I think I've cracked the code for the best casual, warm weather outfit! It all started with a fun 4th of July themed tank that I scooped up from Meijer (a grocery store chain in the mid-eastern part of the US. MI, IN, OH, KY, WI.) One of the best grocery stores in my personal opinion! They have just about any grocery item you can think of as well as home goods and apparel. The majority of my clothes are most likely from Meijer!!!
This tank is no longer available unless you can get lucky and find it on clearance. Sorry!
Once I saw this tank, I grabbed it for a fun, holiday outfit. I thought...I really need a pair of navy shorts to wear with it...and not denim shorts. Sometimes, denim shorts get so sticky and uncomfortable when it's really warm out, and I wanted something that had a longer length; biker shorts!!!
I know I just talked about biker shorts recently, but that was strictly for the purpose of wearing under a dress or skirt to combat against an under garment peep show on a windy day, lol.
These biker shorts are meant to be a piece of an outfit. I found a pair on Amazon and I really like them!!! Here are the requirements I was looking for, and found in the ones I ended up getting:
1) They must have some spandex for a bit of compression, but not too much. Then they dig into my belly or leg and don't fit/lay smoothly.
(These are 92% polyester and 8% spandex. Perfectly soft and stretchy.)
2) They need to be just the right length. This is merely personal preference, but I don't love a shorty, short length, but also not super long.
(The inseam on these is 7 inches, so not too short, not too long!)
3) Must be high waisted!
(They have a 5 inch waist band...perfect for holding in and smoothing the tummy area but not too snug either.)
4) Absolutely HAS to have a pockets.
(Check!!!)
5) Must not be see through!!!
(The darker or printed ones pass the test with the exception of the lighter colors. I heard the white pair are slightly see though, so be mindful of what you are wearing these with. ;) )
Finally, I wanted to pull out the red color in the top, so I wore my red, lace bralette under the tank and it was so, so cute!!! Because the tank fit over sized (it's a men's medium), there was extra room in the arm pits; so it was a perfect way to show off a pop of red from the bralette!
Behold! The most adorable, cozy, and very affordable summer outfit!
The tank was 50% off for the holiday, so $9. (sorry, no link :( )
The biker shorts were $16 on Amazon! (They run true to size, I'm wearing a Medium, and I'm a size 6-8 pants)
And the bralette was a part of a 4 pack from Amazon! (These run true to size, I'm wearing a size Large and I'm a 34D)
Who says looking stylish AND comfy has to be expensive?!?
